DHEA-M
Men now have another supplement that can help maintain health and improve their quality of life. DHEA-M is a combination that features a hormone known as DHEA as well as several well established "male" herbs.

DHEA is a hormone that is produced by the adrenal glands and is the most abundant steroid in blood and in brain tissue. Generally the level of DHEA in people drops about 80% between the ages of 20 and 65. The level of DHEA in the bloodstream may be a good indicator of cancer risk.

There has been some experimental work that has shown that DHEA has promise as a remedy for cancer, obesity, aging, AIDS, Alzheimer's disease, lupus, atherosclerosis, adult onset diabetes and other degenerative diseases. This effect may be due to its ability to inhibit an enzyme that is used to produce fat and its ability to boost anti-carcinogenic activity. As DHEA has been shown promising in cases of degenerative diseases, it may also slow the process of aging. DHEA is also the steroid precursor of testosterone.

Sarsaparilla is an herb native to Central America but cultivated widely in Jamaica. It was widely used as a syphilis remedy during the 1800s. It is now currently marketed in Australia as a teenage acne tonic. Other uses include high blood pressure, congestive heart failure, fluid retention, psoriasis and leprosy. It is included in this male health formula because of its saponins which have been used in the synthesis of sex hormones.

Saw Palmetto is well known for its effect on prostate enlargement. It reduces frequency of urination and increases urine flow among men with prostate enlargement. It has also been used for diabetes, glandular weakness, hormone imbalance, sore throat, and to aid weight gain.

Damiana is a Mexican plant that has been reputed since the time of the Aztecs as an aphrodisiac. It is an antifungal and kills various parasites as well. It also has a strong effect on the urinary tract and is a blood purifier. Damiana has been used for asthma, coughs, colds, flu and various urogenital diseases.

Pumpkin Seeds make a tasty treat after Halloween, but they are also useful in treating several health conditions. It is most often used as a remedy for parasites, especially tapeworms, and as a gentle diuretic. However, there are new studies that suggest it is effective against prostate enlargement and prostate cancer.

Panax Ginseng is the most popular of all Chinese herbs. It appears in more Chinese herbal formulas than any other herb. This is because it has the ability to enhance the effectiveness of other herbs. It also is an adaptogen which means it increases the body's ability to deal with stress.

Ginseng is also noted as an herb for the male reproductive system. Like sarsaparilla, ginseng roots have saponins that increase and regulate sexual function. It is also said to increase life span. The list of conditions that traditionally indicate the usage of ginseng include: insomnia, fatigue, trouble in breathing, blood sugar imbalance, high cholesterol and allergic reactions.

It is suggested that men take 1 capsule of DHEA-M three times daily with meals to promote overall health and help conditions specific to male health such as prostate enlargement.
